Mürren - for your eyes only?

Mürren (1560m), an authentic car-free village perched on a a mountain shelf above the Lauterbrunnental, across the spectacular Eiger, Mönch und Jungfrau mountains and at the bottom of the Schilthorn mountain (Piz Gloria) . Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Lord Byron, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy once were among the first admiring visitors of this valley.

During the 1960s a more worldly guest by the name of James Bond raced the skiiing slopes of Schilthorn in her majesty's secret service..

Mürren has been a cradle of alpine skiing sports. The winter sports area reaches up to 3000 m above sealevel and offers 12 gondolas and skilifts for a total of 56 km of slopes for skiing or snowboarding. Beautiful Nordic ski trails can be found down in the valley as well as high above Mürren in the Flower Valley. Even those who do not ski are sure to get some fresh air: There is no resisting the wellprepared and sunny trails for winter hiking or long and exciting toboganning runs in great alpine surroundings. Swimming, ice skating, squash, sauna in the Mürren Alpine Sportscenter.

Trips in the region

Trips in the region to the typical tourist center of Interlaken
(a matter of taste..), the picturesque Lauterbrunnen Valley (70 waterfalls) and especially the 'Jungfraujoch - Aletschgletscher' area around the Alps' largest remaining glacier. This UNESCO World Natural Heritage can be reached by the mountain cars of the Jungfraubahn. On the way up cast your glances down spectacular Eiger North Face. Bring a well-stuffed wallet, though...
